Last night a coworker and I went to see
Batman Begins on IMAX. The movie is a
reboot of the Batman continuity of the prior movies, but it comes off really well. Without revealing anything that's not in the trailers, the movie stays pretty true to the Post-Crisis Batman story line, although it tweaks several different details about characters and places. Notably, this movie's Gotham was supposedly modeled after and shot in Chicago; but even though the architecture and license plates suggest Illinois, the aerial views make it clear we're still in New York.
The really controversial element from the film was the new
Batmobile. Although its definitely halfway between Hummer and Bradley, the way its carried in the movie makes it
feel right. Of course, to me, the One True Batmobile isn't the Tumbler, or even the
1966 Batmobile, but the
1989 Batmobile. I mean, come on, how much cooler does it get than having a jet intake for your front grill?
