Air Battle over The United States

So General Eberhart says that the USAF could have shot down the 9/11 airliners. I can't help but stop and wonder, if the Air Force had been able to respond fast enough, would we be in a better or worse place today if September 11th, 2001 was not remembered as the day the Twin Towers fell, but as the day the USAF engaged and destroyed four unarmed passenger aircraft with hundreds of Americans aboard, in American airspace? Of course, even if the true plan were discovered (i.e., to crash the aircraft into the WTC), no doubt it would be widely seen as a ploy by the Air Force to explain away an obvious overreaction, and today's engineers would be pointing to how either tower could easily sustain the impact of Boeing.

Current Mood: contemplative contemplative

America would have hated the faceless organization known as the Armed Forces instead of hating the faceless organization known as the Middle East.
