[PUBLIC] Moving On

I just dropped off my written notice to Gardencrest that I will not be renewing my lease on my current unit in May. Now I need to prepare my home one again to move to a new location. This one, though, should be short. I'll be moving to a smaller, one-bedroom apartment in the same complex. Actually, its not even all that much smaller -- the square footage is about the same. But the translocation must happen, so here's the plan, with requests and opportunities for all my dear friends.

First, a lot of my stuff, especially furniture, is going by-bye. This includes, but is not limited to:

If you are interested in any of these things, or have particularly been lusting after any of my other furniture, now would be a good time to speak up. I don't have the capability to easily transport either of the futons, so those would have to be pick-up only.

Also, my current move window is between 9 May and 22 May, so during that period I may be looking for people to help me move boxes to my new place, as well as some awkwardly large bookcases and TV stands that don't collapse as well as most of my stuff (although apparently witticaster and hanasaseru have observed at least one of them implement a self-collapsing feature I may have to look into.) If any of you want to earn a favor from me, hauling my books when I move is a great way to do it.

Also, I think I'm going to take this opportunity to take purly's advice and redesign my bedroom to be hotel-roomy. Courtyard actually sells its bedding as a unit, and they do have some of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in, so I may end up modeling my new bedroom after a Courtyard room, if the geometry works out properly. Now to find a king-sized bedframe...

EDIT: Actual move-day is 15 May.

Hotel-roomy?

Also I might actually have some free time in May and may come by.

Hotel chains, especially large ones, put a hideous amount of research into what makes a bedroom comfortable, both in terms of equipment and layout. It was suggested that I should model my bedroom more after a hotel room to get better quality rest and a generally more pleasant experience at home, which is something that I could probably use.

Yeah, I don't really recommend that feature. Given the wood shards, I'm pretty sure it's still in the trial stages.

That hotel idea is clever. I know Disney Resorts also have an online retailer for their bedding...R. would like that. *plot plot scheme*

My car and my limited might should be available for at least one weekend in your move window.

Although I can make no promises, May is looking like much less hectic a month for me than April, so my car and I may be able to help you out.

Outside of the weekend of 5/22 itself, I lack weekends in May. That said, weeknights in May are perfectly doable for me, as it wouldn't take me very long to get to the build site.

I will hold it for you. Perhaps I can dispatch it to Worcester with our mutual acquaintance -- I've not tried fitting it into a regular-sized car yet.

First of all, of course I will help you...
Second, if you need my dad has a dolly that we could borrow to carry boxes more easily.
Third... king size bed that is not futon hard sound AMAZING!
Last, what will you do for a couch, or is this a studio with no living room?

Re: poke

A need something to fill the couch's mission. If I can't liquidate the BEDDINGE, it may continue on as my primary couch until I find a better replacement.

Yeah, you get so used to sleeping in a hotel room that when you get home you feel uncomfortable. I still don't have those fancy pillows, but I did rearrange my room to be a bit more hotel-roomy and it helps!
