[PUBLIC] Clothes Make the Impression

Its coming up on that time of year again where relatives start asking me what I want or need for the Holiday season, and then proceed to buy me clothes. So to align their behavior with my desires, I thought it would be a good time to adjust my wardrobe. Knowing what I look good in doing anything besides staring in a mirror is not something I really know, so let me ask those of you who regularly see me for your opinion on what I look good in, and what I really don't. Am I wearing too many slacks, and not enough jeans? Should I invest in a few sweaters? Is a londo look more up my alley? Or should I start wearing cuff-links and vests every time I leave the house?

Cool sunglasses, especially at night. And a trench coat that makes you look bigger than your really are.

With your taste in trenchcoats, I would need sunglasses at night. ;-)

Oh god, please, please do not go for a "londo" look. Even if it weren't a poor look to begin with, you would not pull it off well, and I'd be a bit frightened. ^^;

(nothing against him personally, he himself admits that he dresses kinda sloppily out of lack of caring)

I'm snickering on the inside. Well, okay, on the outside.

hanasaseru, why are you being so mean to me?

I fixed it! With an addendum to make it sound less mean! I tried :(

There's an appeal to the cufflink-and-vest option, but by general agreement I am perhaps the worst possible person to take the advice of.

Jeans. They're casual and good-looking at the same time.

Please add a top hat, too. Chicks dig guys with top hats.

Anyway, I like your look. You could totally try jeans, but for God's sake don't make them the slouchy fit. Nothing "relaxed" or "loose."

Avoid cardigans. Try a long-sleeve T-shirt over which you can layer your SFS and other T-shirts? Consider a light blue top (possibly under a coat) to bring out your eyes. Check out some light crew neck or V-neck sweaters for layering over dress shirts.

...And a cummerbund. Cummerbunds are hawt.

Obviously what needs to happen is for you to take one (or at most 2) friends (ideally female) and have them drag you around a mall to try out various outfits and see what works.

I suspect you will not lack for volunteers.

I can only imagine that would bore the poor "volunteers" right out of their skulls.

I recall clothes shopping with you. Boring isn't the word. It was, in fact, distressingly terse. "Yup, that's my size, lets go" without even trying anything on.

I rather associate the slacks look with you, but perhaps you ought to experiment with shirts that are still nice, but aren't intended to be tucked in. You even tuck your t-shirts in. 'Tain't natural.

I could see a slight tweak helping your style out. Personally, I see more formal vests and less formal shirts underneath. Think Han Solo.
