[PUBLIC] Relocation

So this weekend pezzonovante and I moved into our new residence in Waltham. The fun started with final packing and initial truck loading on Friday night. MVP definitely went to noble_resonance, who single-handedly handled most of the particular back-packing problem we faced. My father, jalawingedone, and Rory also lent a hand. We slept overnight at my place and finished the load in the morning. We reached pezzonovante's right on schedule, and to my surprise royalrooter showed up with a van, which took us from "this is going to be a bit tight" to "we're fine for space." I budgeted two hours to load pezzonovante, but we did it in 30 minutes. We made it to Waltham an hour and a half early, and so by the time most of the people I had invited to help unload arrived, the truck was unloaded and most of the cars were as well. mariaklob brought drinks for us, as did breakinglight11, and ultimatepsi provided fairly universal support for the operation.

After the unload, and while furniture was being moved around, my father and I took the truck back to U-Haul, which proved to be a bit of a mistake because more people arrived while I was there and were not integrated into the setup process, and I ended up not properly reintegrating them when I returned. After damage control had been set out, there was a quick IKEA run to pick up a dresser for me and a few other essentials, while mariaklob and Rory were able to get several other supplies for us. Once all that had been accomplished, we all headed down to the Watch City Brewing Co. for dinner, after which I more or less collapsed into bed.

On Sunday ultimatepsi and I assembled my drawer sets, and I was able to make it out to Franklin for a party at jalawingedone and noble_resonance's. That was a lot of fun, although I got crushed at Agricola, I did fairly well in McMulti later that night.

Today has been more cleaning and unpacking, as well as some laundry. In 90 minutes I need to fly to DFW for another week of work. I am really looking forward to a week of vacation starting Saturday.

Re: Vacation!?

I wish! No, this is to do all the things I need to do associated with moving that I can't do when I'm in the field (changing addresses, filing mail forwards, updating registrations, that sort of thing), and organizing my living space.

Re: Vacation!?

We'll compromise... you can have half a week for all that stuff then you can come visit the rest of the week... how does that sound??????

A dress with drawers in it, no less! He's going for a real lifestyle change.
