[PUBLIC] XWhatis?

This evening I had dinner with londo, whom I don't really interact with as much as I feel I should. Our attempts at pub-style food failed and we ended up failing over to Thai, but that was an acceptable failure mode, I felt. The impetus for my visit was to try to get him to come with me to XMortis, a goth night in Central Square I had been invited to, but wasn't entirely comfortable going to alone. Alas, my attempts met with failure, and I lacked anybody else to show me the rope in the field, so with some dejection I turned for home.

Driving down South Street in Waltham, though, a surprising train of thought came over me. I realized that there would be people at this event who were interesting and I enjoyed hanging out with, and therefore I should go. Having only a vague idea of where it was, how to get there, and other logistical details such as where to park were excuses -- for the love of God, driving to site I've never been to before equipped with nothing but an address is an important part of what I do for a living, and this was Boston! What the hell was my problem? So I veered left and merged onto I-90 East, bound for the Allston tolls.

Reaching Massachusetts Avenue, I began circling for parking, which met with limited success on the street, and eventually I parked in the University Park garage. I was very pleased with my disposal of the car, and proceeded to Brookline Street.

I entered the club at 2130 or so, and took a seat at a table in the corner, taking some time to acclimate myself to the new atmosphere. I watched the comings and going of the other patrons, and eventually people I knew began to show up. rigel, witticaster and others in the first group, and later on juldea. We had a pleasant time, and there was some dancing, although the heavy resounding beats and crowded floor left little room for dances of maneuver.

I had been running a sleep deficit of late, and had been working quite hard all day, so I packed it in at 0015. I walked out just about the same time breakinglight11 was walking in. I stopped to say hello, and then just made my way out, and drove home. Overall the experience was interesting, but by no means life changing. Perhaps I will go again if pestered to.

I think you may be the first person to ever say "I'd like to go clubbing, but only if londo is around to show me the ropes."

Yeah, I ended up going in a black shirt and slacks. I was mildly worried about what my reception would be, as I could just as easily been leading a meeting in the same outfit.

Aw, so that's why you were gone so quick. I wondered where you'd disappeared to. Still, nice to see you there.
