[PUBLIC] A Weekend in Vegas

I'm sitting in LAS right now, waiting for my flight home. LAS has no airport club, no bookstore (I needed to buy a copy of Clash of Kings for the flight home, but that's not going to happen) but they do have Free Internet, which is great.

So, the quick summary. On Friday I flew in and met up with kelizra, my companion for this particular expedition. We stayed at the MGM Grand, with a fine view from our hotel room overlooking the airport. We ate at a the hotel's Italian restaurant the first night, then went to the casino and played some craps and roulette. kelizra's first big hit was in roulette, hitting a number directly (after, it must be said, many tries.) After that we turned in, and the following morning ate at the Chinese and Sushi Bar, Grand Wok, for lunch. Amusingly, I got a fortune from my cookie stating "You will travel and gain a fortune," which I took as a good omen. At kelizra's behest, we played the numbers on the fortune cookie at the roulette table, but only two of them actually appeared on the board, 13 and 31. To my considerable surprise, on the very first spin, we hit 13.

Saturday evening we walked up the strip and watched the Fountains of Bellagio. We came back to the hotel, changed into more formalwear, and ate at Wolfgang Puck's before attending Cirque de Soleil's Ka, having a chance to watch the show from the second row. After that, we played craps for a short while longer, and then retired for the night.

On Sunday, we walked up the strip again, stopped at the Bellagio for lunch, and ate on a balcony overlooking the fountain, and were able to watch two displays as we ate. After lunch, we walked to Caesar's Palace, did some light shopping at the Forum Shops, and then played some more at the tables there, turning a modest profit. We got back, ate at Craftsteak, which was some of the best steak I've ever had (and I've had some really good steak), and finally went out to play some more craps at the MGM Casino. I got virtually wiped out, but as was the theme for the weekend, kelizra cleaned up.

Today we got up and kelizra stopped quickly in the Casino on last time to take a slot machine for another $100, then we went to the airport. All told, the trip ended up costing about $1150 in hotel and food, another $400 in entertainment, $450 in transportation, and about $1300 in gambling losses for me, making it the most expensive weekend I've ever had, but one of the most fun I've ever had, and furthermore, kelizra really seemed to enjoy herself.

So any volunteers to accompany me if I go back next year?
