Withdrawal

For a while now I've been wanting to play an RPG, but nothing that's hit the market for the PC recently has really tickled my fancy, so I'm looking at backtracking and picking up something I went rocketing by when it first came out. Either PC-native or emulated, I'm looking for a good 20-60 hour conventional RPG. So what's up for recommendation that I haven't played yet and can run on XP (preferably in a window)?

I don't know how far you went with Knights of the Old Republic before you lent it to us, but it's pretty good. (And you can have it back if you want.) And I believe there's a sequel now.

The other thing I might suggest would be some of the SNES RPGs from Squaresoft. Should be plenty there to choose from.

Download DOSBOX if you haven't already and get yourself a copy of Ultima VI.

Or, if you're in an adventure mood, locate a copy of the King's Quest Collection and play KQ4. (This will also require DOSBOX.)

Sorry, not Ultima VI, Ultima VII with the Exult wrapper. It's generally considered the best in the series.
