New Phone

I finally replaced my old Cell Phone with a new Motorola Cell Phone/Camera/Video Camera/Long Term Storage Device/Address Book/Date Book/Alarm Clock/Hyperspace Inhibitor/Ark/Kryptonite Induction Coil/God Knows What Else. The major difference to my readers, besides having an easier time reaching me because of the greater reception afforded by this "Digital Network" thing, is that now I can send and recieve images on my Cell Phone. As such, I encourage all of you with the capability to send me a PIX-message with a picture of yourself so that I can associate your call with a picture of you on my external viewscreen.

In other news, I have to build a stock market for 2005-2. This should be fun. Does anybody know if OpenOffice's Database application is ODBC compliant?

Why can't your snazzy phone just download a picture of me off of the Internet?

Because alas, I have not dropped the extra $50 for the USB interface and driver software.

Aha. I had seen "phones" with built-in web browsing, so based on your description I assumed that your phone did that as well.

So, how would one send your phone a picture, then?

I can get on the Web with the phone, but its a mite pricey. Per minute, you know.

Pictures are apparently sent via a PIX protocol (I'm not sure if that's industry standard or Motorola specific), but its basically an SMS message with a small (max of 40-50Kb) image attached to it. Its sent in much the same way as a conventional text message.
