Today At Work

SAP is a huge business management software, made in Germany. Today I was migrating data to it.

Coworker Steve: Now, you have to be careful, because look at these dates. They're of the format DD.MM.YYYY. That's because the user that created this load script has that set as their default output for dates. Your account has MM/DD/YYYY. If you're running the loader under her account, you need the European format, but if you're running under your own account, you need the American format.

Me: SAP can't tell the difference between periods and slashes?

Steve: Nope.

Me: *sigh* We obviously didn't bomb Germany hard enough the first time. Or the second.
