The Races

Today Grainger sponsored a trip for all the employees and contractors on the SAP rollout to spend the afternoon at Arlington Park, a horse racetrack near here. They handed out ten-dollar cash certificates to everybody so we could place small bets in addition to any pocket money they wanted to spend. I ended up spending about $25 dollars of my own betting on various races, and got $2 back. Of course, in the middle I was up at much as $10 dollars, but since I went in expecting to lose everything anyways, I ended up betting most of my winning on the ninth and last race of the day, and lost to a terrible upset. Such is life. On the other hand, it was a lot more fun than being at work all afternoon.
