Jacked From Pez

Now with all answers
1. Post a list of 15 fandoms.
2. Have your friends list guess your favourite character / pairing from each fandom.
3. When guessed, bold the line and write a sentence about why you like that character / pairing.
4. Post in your own LJ.

  1. Star Wars(ultimatepsi) Han Solo is indeed my favorite character in the Star Wars series for his exceptionally clear view of reality over idealism (at least, for a while).
  2. Star Trek(jjlc) Q comes out easily ahead, for, like Bester later in this list, he embodies the clever and powerful villain who's just as interested in toying with the heroes as he is doing anything productive (probably more toying in Q's case).
  3. Nadesico/Ryoko Subaru - The leader of the actual pilot team for Nadesico definitely gets my vote, for trying against all odds to preserve the ship against attack, sabotage, and the tactical blunders of the "Mastermind" captain.
  4. Neon Genesis Evangelion/Maya Ibuki - Maya spends the series as the primary ground controller for the Eva units, but even flying a desk she is probably more responsible for NERV's victories than certain crybaby pilots I could name.
  5. World War II/Isoroku Yamamoto - Japan's supreme naval strategist overcame huge material and numerical discrepencies to deal catastrophic damage to the United States Navy until he was assasinated in one of the most dramatic and expensive ways possible.
  6. Babylon 5(ultimatepsi) Yes, Alfred Bester, star of the Psi Corps, takes this honor, for having more flair and style and sheer guile than most other villains I've ever seen.
  7. Sluggy Freelance/Oasis - Oasis is a sexy powerhouse of confusion mixed with speed and strength that staggers or kills almost anything. What's not to like?
  8. 8-Bit Theatre(ultimatepsi) Black Mage is definitely my favorite character in 8-Bit, understanding that all problems can be solved through use of sufficient force, and that there is no such thing as overkill.
  9. Megatokyo/Largo - Largo has only taken the #1 slot recently, since he started being a major character again. Previously, the position was held by 1337 D00d.
  10. Septerra Core(sirroxton) Yes, the protaganist of Septerra Core is indeed my favorite character, if for no other reason than how well she deals with the shit she's exposed to over the course of the game.
  11. Final Fantasy VI/Kefka - This guys is Chaotic Evil embodied -- gleefully, cheerfully, mondo gonzo whacko bad, making him a landmark not just in the game, but in RPG's in general.
  12. Battletech/Aleksandr Kerensky - The guy convinced a galactic army to drop everything they were doing and leave for darkest space so that they couldn't be used in a cataclysmic Civil War. I haven't seen or heard of a greater act of leadership anywhere.
  13. Final Fantasy VII/Rufus Shinra - The President of Shinra Energy Company, Rufus leads his company and city to prosperity, and has the resolve to remain in his office even as it is fired upon by the Planetary Guardian of Doom.
  14. Red vs. Blue(jjlc) Grif comes out on top of my list for RvB by being just smart enough to deliver some of the series' best lines and still be the focus of half the "Everybody hates..." jokes.
  15. Boston Red Sox/David Ortiz - This guy's got the game down pat; swing the bat, hit the little white ball up over the big wall in back, take a victory lap around the bases. What could be simpler?

One for Thirteen -- although good showing with Izumi Maki and Zoe. Top ten, but not number one.

Three for Seven, and good guesses for the others. Quite frankly, I doubt anybody will get 4, even among those who have seen the series.

Four swings and four misses, although Picard seems to be a popular choice for the number 2 slot. Clever reflecting 8 back to me, though, alas, I legimately thought you would like the "creative lawyer" character the most.

Fair, he is a close 2nd for precisely that reason. But man, if I could stab and HADOKEN my way out of problems, that'd be so awesome.

Although there is no finer moment in Eva than when Kaji finally gets what he has coming, somebody else occupies the top rank for me. Celes is a fantastic guess -- with relatively little convincing she could be nudged into the top spot, but alas, she's not who I was thinking of when I wrote this entry. And Damon is indeed an excellent baseball player, but there's another hitter that's currently my favorite BoSox.

Two for Five, jjlc, not bad. Churchill is a good guess, but is from the wrong theatre.
